Diabetes Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our experienced team in the Waltham Forest community. This permanent Band 7 role, based at the Jane Atkinson Centre, offers a salary of £49,397 £56,515 (pro-rated for part-time hours). Working Monday to Friday, 9am5pm. The Role

As a Diabetes Specialist Nurse, you will play an integral role in improving the quality of life for patients living with diabetes. Working within a highly experienced community diabetes team, you will provide patient education, lead service development, and collaborate with primary and secondary care colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes. Your clinical expertise and leadership will contribute to managing a complex and autonomous caseload.

  • Provide tailored, structured education to empower patients and support self-management.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to develop holistic care plans.
  • Exhibit advanced clinical skills in managing a diverse, complex patient population.

Essential Skills And Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse qualification with active NMC registration and five years of nursing experience.
  • Post-graduate diabetes training at level 6 or 7, with structured education accreditation desirable.
  • Independent prescribing (V300) and a teaching or mentoring qualification.
  • Experience in community diabetes care and autonomous caseload management.

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being

properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters

will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will

undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which

will include mandatory training, systems training and the

allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of

15%of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,1371 - per annum, pro rata for part time)

OR

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of

5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,346 and a

maximum payment of £2,270 per annum, pro rata for part time)
