We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrists to work within our Podiatry team.
The Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist will work in partnership with patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes with moderate, high risk and active foot problems in a community setting, aiming to improve outcomes for patients. This includes the development of clinic-based care, home visits, along with healthcare professional and patient education programmes for diabetes management.
About the Role
Diabetes Care for You is a multidisciplinary community diabetes service covering Brighton, Hove, High Weald and the Havens in East Sussex. The service comprises of consultants, nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, psychologists and support staff, that all contribute to the development of this innovative service.
The podiatrists also support with the Multi-Disciplinary Foot Team down at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and at times may be required to support other podiatry teams located in Brighton & Hove within the same directorate.
There will also be opportunities to work as part of our new innovative partnership with The University of Brighton at Falmer and the provision of clinical supervision for students studying for BSc and Master's degrees in Podiatry.
Main Responsibilities
- Specialist knowledge of diabetic foot assessment and management.
- Managing complex and high-risk diabetic foot conditions.
- Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement.
- Leadership, mentoring, and supervision.
- At times may be required to support other podiatry teams located within the same directorate.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development including attendance regional and local expert reference groups.
- Participate in team meetings and to regularly update the staff on developments within the field of diabetes.

There will be a requirement to travel across Brighton & Hove and East Sussex. Therefore, a full driving license and access to a suitable vehicle is a key requirement for this role.
