About The Role
HCPC-registered Podiatrist ready to progress? Join Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) in a Band 6 to 7 development role, building specialist skills, leadership and experience towards an advanced specialist role within our MDT diabetes service.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious HCPC-registered Podiatrist who is looking to take the next step in their career through an exciting development opportunity within our Diabetes Podiatry Service.
This is a unique Band 6 to Band 7 Development Post, designed to support a motivated podiatrist in progressing towards an advanced specialist role within our multidisciplinary diabetes service. The successful candidate will join our dedicated and innovative Podiatry Team and benefit from a clearly defined development pathway leading to a permanent Band 7 position.
Our Diabetes Podiatry Service operates across two specialist diabetes centres located at Pinderfields Hospital and Pontefract Hospital, ensuring high-quality care is delivered 52 weeks per year. Each centre is led by an experienced Band 7 Non-Medical Prescribing Podiatrist, supported by skilled Band 6 colleagues who provide additional clinical capacity and expertise.

Main Duties
Whilst undertaking the development programme, you will work across a variety of settings including community clinics, GP practices, domiciliary visits and specialist diabetes services throughout the Wakefield district. You will provide a wide range of podiatric interventions, working closely with patients, carers and healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.
As your skills develop, you will transition into autonomous practice within the Diabetes Centre, playing a key role in the prevention and management of diabetic foot complications and contributing to the ongoing success of our specialist service.
Skills
This permanent full-time development post offers an exceptional opportunity to gain advanced clinical skills and experience within diabetes care. Initially appointed at Band 6 (under agenda for change annexe 21), the successful candidate will receive structured support, mentorship and supervised development to enable them to:
- Develop advanced assessment and management skills for patients with diabetes and complex foot pathology.
- Progress towards independently managing autonomous clinics within the Diabetes Centre.
- Gain experience working within a specialist multidisciplinary team.
- Develop the competencies required for advanced clinical decision-making.
- Undertake an accredited Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualification, fully supported by the Trust.
- Progress to a full-time Band 7 Specialist Diabetes Podiatrist role (agenda for change - annexe 21) upon successful completion of agreed competencies and the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
Essential Person Specification Requirements
We are looking for a dynamic, compassionate and motivated podiatrist who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
You Will Possess
- HCPC registration as a Podiatrist.
- Demonstrable post-registration clinical experience.
- Experience in the assessment and treatment of the at-risk foot.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work autonomously whilst contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied caseload.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and career progression.
