Role Overview
As a Diagnostic Imaging Booking Agent, you’ll deliver a patient‑focused, responsive and accessible radiology booking service across multiple imaging modalities. You’ll be a key member of the Diagnostic Imaging team, coordinating referrals and appointments via telephone and email, while operating within a clinically governed environment where accuracy and patient safety are essential.
You’ll work closely with radiologists, radiographers, nursing teams and internal stakeholders to ensure consistently high standards of service for patients, consultants and clinicians.
You’ll help us make health happen by:
- Managing diagnostic imaging bookings across multiple modalities including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, DEXA and Mammography
- Interpreting referrals and clinical indications to ensure the correct scan is booked
- Communicating radiology‑specific preparation instructions and safety protocols, including contraindications and screening requirements
- Ensuring compliance with IR(ME)R regulations, pregnancy status checks, and safeguarding requirements
- Liaising daily with radiologists, radiographers, nurses and referring clinicians
- Managing complex patient queries, including those relating to implants, medical devices, claustrophobia and radiation concerns
- Supporting anxious patients and escalating to clinical teams where appropriate to ensure a seamless patient journey
- Meeting booking KPIs and supporting connected care pathways
- Accurately maintaining booking, referral and reporting systems to support efficient service delivery

Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role
- Experience working in a private healthcare environment (hospital or booking centre)
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an excellent telephone manner
- Highly organised, able to prioritise workloads and work under pressure
- Confident using multiple IT systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Experience within a radiology or diagnostic imaging department
- Radiology booking or contact centre experience
- Knowledge of modality‑based booking rules or MRI safety
- AMSPAR Medical Terminology qualification or similar
