Perform advanced obstetric ultrasound imaging that directly supports our physicians' counselling and patient care decisions.
Major duties and responsibilities
- Review patient history to determine what ultrasound images are required in assessment of fetal and maternal well-being
- Obtain high quality ultrasound images in an efficient and comprehensive manner
- Document and discuss ultrasound findings for physician review
- Ensure ultrasound equipment is cared for and maintained for day-to-day use
- Achieve and maintain adequate certification and education relevant to maternal-fetal medicine including, but not limited to, nuchal translucency, nasal bone, uterine artery Dopplers, fetal Dopplers, and transvaginal ultrasound techniques
- Attend educational courses and rounds to maintain adequate continuing medical education credits as required by Sonography Canada
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement projects as required

Required Skills And Abilities
- Able to prioritize, triage, and manage multiple tasks
- Maintain focus on patient needs and remain calm with difficult patients
- Perform tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills

Qualifications
- Completion of diploma or certificate accredited program for Diagnostic Imaging Sonographer
- Active registration with Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and Sonography Canada
- Work experience in obstetrical imaging or maternal-fetal medicine (clinic or hospital) is an asset
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Relevant workplace insurance maintained through own professional association
