Job: Diagnostic Technician
Location: Walton-on-Thames, KT12
Salary: £43,500 Basic Salary + Bonus (OTE £48,000 - £50,000)
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus Saturday mornings on a rota basis
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Diagnostic Technician to join their busy and professional aftersales team in Walton-on-Thames.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician with strong fault-finding and diagnostic experience to work with the latest manufacturer technology in a modern workshop environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle faults while ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle faults.
- Use manufacturer-approved diagnostic equipment and technical systems.
- Carry out repairs, component replacements, coding, programming, and software updates.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and identify additional faults or safety concerns.
- Complete accurate diagnostic reports and repair documentation.
- Follow manufacturer guidelines, workshop procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with Service Advisors, Workshop Controllers, and fellow Technicians.
- Maintain exceptional standards of workmanship and customer service.
- Keep up to date with evolving vehicle technologies through ongoing training and development.

Requirements
Essential
- Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification (Level 2 may be considered with relevant experience).
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician with strong diagnostic capabilities.
- Excellent electrical and fault-finding skills.
- Experience using manufacturer or aftermarket diagnostic equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Previous franchised dealership experience.
- Experience with vehicle coding and software updates.
- MOT Tester qualification.
- Manufacturer accreditations.
