Role Description

The Diamond Driller role is a full-time, on-site position based in The South West, working on construction and related infrastructure projects. Day-to-day duties include:

  • Operating diamond drilling equipment to cut and core concrete, masonry, and other structural materials according to project specifications.
  • Setting up and maintaining drilling rigs, ensuring accurate measurements, and working from technical drawings and site instructions.
  • Conducting routine inspection of tools and machinery.
  • Following health and safety procedures.
  • Coordinating with site supervisors and other trades to complete work efficiently.
  • Assisting with site preparation.
  • Keeping work areas clean and safe.
  • Reporting any equipment or safety issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment related to diamond drilling and construction tasks.
  • Strong drilling skills, including experience with diamond drilling techniques and safe cutting/coring practices.
  • Knowledge of directional drilling principles and the ability to follow drilling plans where required.
  • Experience in inspection of drilling equipment and work areas to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with site standards.
  • Understanding of oil & gas or similar industrial environments, including awareness of relevant safety regulations, is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in construction, civil engineering, or related fields, ideally in drilling or cutting operations.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings, measurements, and method statements.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, with the ability to follow site rules and use PPE correctly.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, contractors, and other team members.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses for operating drilling equipment or heavy machinery are beneficial.
