How will this role help Vemoye?
This role will play a vital part in helping Vemoye build a sustainable network of skilled professionals who can support education organisations in Nigeria.
Many of the organisations we work with are doing important work in areas such as STEM education, entrepreneurship, and youth development, but often lack access to specialist skills, strategic guidance, and professional networks that could help them grow their impact. Through this community, we aim to bridge that gap by connecting organisations with experienced Nigerian diaspora professionals who are willing to contribute their expertise on a pro bono basis.
By helping us design and grow this network, you will create opportunities for professionals to share their knowledge, mentor organisations, and contribute skills that might otherwise be inaccessible. This could include support with areas such as strategy, marketing, operations, programme design, fundraising, technology, and more.
Your work will also help us build a strong sense of community among professionals who want to contribute to Nigeria's development in a practical and meaningful way. By creating engaging opportunities for learning, networking, and collaboration, you will help foster long-term relationships that strengthen both the community itself and the organisations it supports.
In the short term, your contribution will help us establish the foundations of the network, including the platform, engagement strategy, events programme, and volunteer journey. In the longer term, the systems and community you help create will enable Vemoye to support more organisations, access a wider range of expertise, and increase the impact we can have across the education sector.
Ultimately, your work will help ensure that talented professionals are able to use their skills where they are needed most, supporting organisations that are expanding opportunities, developing young people's potential, and helping shape a brighter future for communities across Nigeria.

- Organised and able to manage multiple projects or initiatives at once

- Comfortable working in a start-up or early-stage environment where processes are still being developed
Skills And Experience
- Experience in community building, membership organisations, volunteer engagement, partnerships, events, or stakeholder management
- Experience creating and maintaining professional relationships
- Confidence engaging with professionals from a range of industries and seniority levels
- Strong written communication skills
- Experience using platforms such as LinkedIn, Circle, Slack, or similar community tools is desirable
Nice to have
- An interest in education, social impact, or international development
- Familiarity with the Nigerian diaspora community
- Experience organising webinars, networking events, or professional communities
We are less concerned about a specific professional background and more interested in finding someone who is a strong communicator, enjoys bringing people together, and is motivated by the opportunity to help build a community that supports education organisations in Nigeria through pro bono expertise and collaboration.

What will you be doing?
What will the volunteer do?
You will work directly with the founder to design, launch and grow Vemoye's network for Nigerian diaspora professionals.
Our vision is to build a community of experienced professionals who are willing to contribute their expertise through pro bono consulting, mentoring and skills-based support for education organisations in Nigeria. Alongside this, we want to create a valuable community experience that encourages members to connect, learn and stay engaged over the long term.

As our Community & Engagement Lead, you will help shape this from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Researching and recommending the most suitable platform for the community (e.g. LinkedIn, Circle, Telegram or other alternatives)
- Developing the community strategy, structure and member journey
- Creating a plan to attract and engage Nigerian diaspora professionals
- Helping define the community's identity, culture and value proposition
- Designing and managing an engagement calendar, including discussions, networking opportunities and learning events
- Identifying and inviting guest speakers for webinars and virtual events
- Supporting the planning of occasional in-person networking events and meet-ups
- Developing processes to encourage and coordinate pro bono support for partner organisations
- Gathering feedback from members and helping improve the community experience over time
Key deliverables
By the end of the volunteer period, we would expect to have
- A clear community strategy and growth plan
- A recommended platform and implementation plan
- A defined member journey and engagement framework
- A six-month calendar of events and activities
- A pipeline of potential speakers and contributors
- Initial systems and processes for managing volunteer engagement and pro bono opportunities
You will be joining Vemoye at an exciting stage of development. We are a small, founder-led organisation, so you will have significant ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to shape a key part of our future direction. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building communities, creating structure from ideas and helping connect talented people with meaningful opportunities to make an impact.
