Job Opening: Diesel Technician
Roberts International Trucks has an immediate opening for an experienced diesel technician at one of our on-site maintenance facilities in Claxton, GA. Top-level pay and benefits offered.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform assigned tasks in compliance with Roberts International Truck policies, procedures, and Best Practices
- Accurate completion of repair orders
- Keep accurate notes on repair orders to ensure accuracy
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Interface easily with dealer computer system
- Basic computer skills in order to navigate the Navistar Service Portal for diagnostics
- Support other technicians in repairs with the interest of the customer
- Maintain/attain required skills to be a qualified state inspector (DOT)
- Maintain confidentiality with respect to dealership information
Minimum Basic Skills
- Knowledge of basic engine and drive line
- Knowledge of basic electrical
- Knowledge of cab and suspension
- EPA 609 Certification
- Trailer preventative maintenance work
- Knowledge of air, hydraulic, and full power brake systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on all fleet equipment to include reefer units & lift gates
- Diagnose and repair various concerns on reefer units and lift gates
- Special projects as assigned by Service Manager

Trade Skills, Knowledge, and/or Experience Required
- Provide own hand tools up to 1/2 in. drive
- Knowledge of proper use of all tools
- Inspection and lubrication
- Cab, frame, front axle, steering gear & springs
- Brake system, air and hydraulic
- Clutch, transmission and differential
- Engine tune-up, electrical/electronic testing
- Overhaul, major components
- Trailer repairs
Skills, Knowledge, and/or Experience Required
- Customer focused
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational skills

Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, special technical training
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Honesty and integrity
- Excellent communication skills, including an awareness of others and an effective listening ability
- Customer appreciation, a desire to satisfy customers and the ability to instill customer confidence
- A commitment to customer satisfaction by addressing potential issues proactively.

Experience
- Diesel Engine, Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanics: 3 years (Required)
- Diesel engine repair: 3 years (Preferred)
- Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (Required)
