The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietetic Support Worker to join the Rehabilitation Dietetic Team based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with an interest in nutrition and healthcare to support the delivery of high-quality dietetic care across rehabilitation services.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting a clinical caseload across multiple hospital sites alongside associated administrative duties. Working in partnership with registered dietitians, you will undertake delegated clinical tasks to support patients in meeting their individual nutritional needs, contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of nutritional care and supporting patients to achieve agreed nutrition goals. The service operates a paper-light approach, with clinical records and processes managed electronically, so strong IT skills and confidence using a range of digital systems are essential. Effective communication is also key, and you should be confident communicating with patients, carers and colleagues while working collaboratively to support excellent patient care.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Permanent, part-time hours 21.6 per week
  • Working pattern: 3 days per week, Monday to Friday
  • Location: Based with the Rehabilitation Dietetic Team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, with the role supporting a clinical caseload across multiple hospital sites.
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of registered dietitians to undertake delegated clinical tasks that support patients with their individual nutritional needs.
  • Assist with the planning, delivery and evaluation of nutritional care, contribute to patient-centred care and support patients to achieve agreed nutrition goals.
  • Work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team across rehabilitation services, maintain accurate electronic clinical records and undertake associated administrative duties.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers and colleagues and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality dietetic care.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job

  • Interest in nutrition and healthcare.
  • Ability to undertake delegated clinical tasks under the direction of registered dietitians.
  • Understanding of patient-centred care.
  • Good communication skills with patients, carers and colleagues.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using electronic clinical records and digital systems.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to organise and manage clinical and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to work across multiple hospital sites as required.
  • Commitment to supporting high-quality dietetic and nutritional care.
