Mission

We are looking for a GEC Engineering Manager to drive the strategic transformation of the engineering function within the Digital Buildings systems & project business.

The aim is to increase our competitiveness & improve our margins through establishing a collaborative working relationship between the countries and our Global Engineering Centre for BMS based in India.

This is a key integration position, and the successful candidate must work well within a multi-cultural team. The key requirement is to unlock the many possibilities in business improvement/efficiency and growth by facilitating, driving change and providing support. You will be an excellent communicator at all levels, proactive and exhibit strong collaborative qualities.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the GEC Leader and Country DB Management create an action plan for growth of offshore hardware design, software and graphics engineering, from the Country to GEC.
  • Working closely with the VP of Digital Energy Systems Europe & France to Identify & Engage key operation, tendering & Sales country leadership to bring them onboard with GEC delivery within identified projects.
  • In Collaboration with country stakeholders create clear sales opportunities appropriate for GEC support and support local tendering teams with accurate costing and saving plans of delivery by GEC teams.
  • Work with country operation leaders to identify appropriate GEC opportunities from live backlog projects.
  • Through identification of sales & backlog pipelines agreed with country teams build monthly and yearly forecast of GEC man hours to be delivered in each region.
  • Build labour savings forecasts and monitor against as delivered projects via the GEC to present to country leadership teams monthly/yearly savings from delivered projects.
  • Provide programme management to all GEC projects within Europe & France delivered by the GEC team. Ensuring progress reporting, timely delivery & accurate invoicing is carried out.
  • Track & monitor GEC estimation requests, ensuring timely costs for engineering resources are accurate and competitive delivered to country teams.
  • Manage quality process of delivered projects, identified country standards are adhered to and lessons learned on projects are carried out.
  • Build & Report monthly KPI dashboard to European leadership team clearly identifying qty of hours delivered per country, cost savings achieved and forecasted hours vs targets.
  • Agree with Country VPs yearly targets on delivered hours via the GEC and scope of projects to suit their business and sectors.
  • Support GEC engineering community in identifying training needs and linking in the appropriate SMEs from in country to support development of GEC engineers.
  • Work with the GEC leader to ensure the appropriate resource management and capacity planning is in place.
  • Support local team during tendering process to ensure we build a competitive and realistic offshore cost model.
  • Drive & monitor on time delivery from GEC to Country.
  • Actively Measure Quality & Internal customer satisfaction. Ensure corrective actions are rapidly put in place if necessary.

The Engineering Manager role would report to the GEC Leader in India, with a dotted reporting line into the Digital Buildings Country management team.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with Global Teams will be important, Different Nationalities & Cultures.
  • Strong Team Interaction & Collaboration skills.
  • Self-driven & Passionate about efficiency and growth.
  • Strong Technical, Business & Financial Acumen.
  • Good understanding tendering/estimating and cost management for BMS hardware design, software, and graphics.
  • Working knowledge of pre-sales activities and project execution environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to influence and convince at Engineer, Manager and Leadership level.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to implement new initiatives.
  • Highly focused & results oriented.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience in managing change and leading transformation.
  • Experience in Project portfolio management (PMO type of role), Project Manager and/or Engineering Manager of BMS systems.
  • BMS Industry competence & proven track record.
  • PMP Certification any other Project Management, Program Management certification is a plus.
