Digital Channel Manager (YouTube + Social) — FTC*

Contract: Fixed-term contract, *initial 3-month term with view to permanent (if that works for you, too).

Location: Wherever you do your best work, with 1 day per week in central Manchester.

Reports to: Luci Sanan, Founder.

Rate: Competitive mid-level Manchester rate.

The Role

53 Degrees North Media works with premium broadcast documentary and factual content —from top class production companies producing for leading international broadcasters and streamers. We're building the owned digital channel layer that turns those rights, that IP and that talent into audience and revenue on YouTube and social.

We're hiring a hands-on Digital Channel Manager to own editorial strategy, packaging and publishing across our channels, clip packages, cutdowns, and social-native support, with a focus on YouTube and Facebook monetisation and TikTok/Instagram support.

Reporting to the Director, and supported by our Content Coordinator, you'll own our social-first output end-to-end: editorial calendar, platform-native craft, community and performance.

Our ideal candidate lives inside YouTube Studio, understands the cultural and editorial context premium factual sits in — documentary, factual, and has a proven track record of growing engaged audiences with best-in-class social craft. Working knowledge of how archive and documentary content is programmed is a strong advantage.

What you will be doing

Channel Planning

  • Own the planning across YouTube (long-form + Shorts), Instagram, TikTok, Meta and emerging platforms
  • Build and run rolling editorial calendars
  • Ensure output adhere’s to platform and company policy, including geo-blocking policies and monetisation policies
  • Ensure channel activity aligns with wider commercial and distribution objectives
  • Identify opportunities to grow reach, engagement, subscribers and fandom
  • Stay ahead of platform developments, formats and emerging tools; bring a point of view on what to test next as an embrace of new tech as an enabler

Content & Creative

  • Lead development of social-first content — hooks, packaging, pacing — tuned to platform and audience
  • Own content calendars and maintain a consistent flow of engaging output across all channels
  • Provide creative direction on shoots: campaign support, reactive content, behind-the-scenes
  • Champion new formats and storytelling approaches to maximise reach, retention and engagement
  • Ensure everything reflects each channel’s tone of voice and the brand identity.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Edit & post-production

  • Cut long-form YouTube edits, Shorts / Reels / TikToks, and social cutdowns from existing broadcast episodes, embracing the latest in AI software and tech to streamline operations and output.
  • Repurpose evergreen and back-catalogue material into platform-specific edits; never straight cross-post
  • Work to brand guidelines, manage the geo-blocking and liaise with CMS level operations to ensure streamlined processes.

Community Management

  • Own community management across channels; respond to top comments, flag sentiment shifts, escalate as needed
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen audience relationships and build advocacy
  • Move at pace on reactive opportunities — trends, cultural moments, news beats relevant to our projects
  • Support escalation processes when required

Performance Reporting

  • Own performance reporting across all channels
  • Track and report on the metrics that matter: CTR, AVD, retention curve, subscriber velocity, impressions, follower growth, engagement rate, share rate, saves, traffic and revenue contribution
  • Manage the testing A/B test thumbnails, titles and copy; iterate on packaging based on what the data says
  • Run regular competitor and industry analysis to surface opportunities and emerging formats
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to shape the next cycle of activity

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience and passion in social, digital or content — ideally within factual, documentary, broadcast, streamer, distributor or content-rights environments
  • Strong understanding of every major platform and its native craft — aspect ratios, safe zones, hook structure, caption styling, hashtag and SEO
  • Fluent in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
  • Comfortable across the full creator stack: YouTube Studio, Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business Center, a scheduler of your choice
  • Strong analytical skills; you can read a retention curve and translate insight into action
  • Highly organised, self-managing across multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Commercially aware — you understand how channel work contributes to wider business objectives
  • Creative thinker with a genuine passion for content, culture and emerging formats
