Lyon & Turnbull is developing its digital sales offering, including the introduction of a new programme of Timed Online Auctions.
We are looking for a Digital Commerce Coordinator to join our Marketing team and support the day-to-day delivery, marketing and growth of this new sales channel.
THE ROLE
The role will have a strong focus on Timed Online Auctions, helping us establish an always-on programme that complements our established live auctions and reaches new and existing buyers and sellers online.
Working closely with the Digital Marketing Manager, wider Marketing team, auction specialists and technology partners, you will help shape how sales and lots are presented and discovered online, attract relevant audiences, develop customer journeys and use performance data to continually improve results.
This is a varied digital role spanning ecommerce, digital marketing and merchandising, SEO, CRM, content, reporting and customer journey optimisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Timed Online Auctions & Digital Merchandising
- Support the day-to-day delivery and development of Lyon & Turnbull’s Timed Online Auction programme, maintaining a clear forward calendar and working with specialists to ensure sales are effectively structured and presented.
- Use customer demand, search behaviour and performance data to help identify sale themes and opportunities across categories, artists, makers, brands and price points.
- Work with specialists to optimise lot titles, descriptions and product information for online discovery and conversion.
- Help develop relevant customer-facing product filters by category, working with technology partners to improve structured product information, onsite discovery and ecommerce performance.
SEO & Content
- Support the optimisation of auctions, lots, topics and other website content for organic search.
- Undertake keyword and search-demand research to identify opportunities for new sales, categories and content.
- Work with specialists and the Marketing team to develop useful evergreen content supporting both buyers and sellers.
- Help connect editorial content, departments, auctions and active inventory through effective internal linking.
- Monitor organic performance and identify opportunities to improve search visibility and traffic.
CRM & Customer Journeys
- Help develop the digital customer journey across browsing, registration, bidding, buying and post-sale activity.
- Review existing customer communications and identify opportunities to create a more cohesive and personalised experience.
- Help build and optimise behaviour-led CRM journeys, audience segmentation and targeting based on customer interests and activity.
- Monitor performance and identify opportunities to encourage engagement, repeat bidding and purchasing.
- Work with the wider team and technology partners to improve the customer data available for CRM and personalisation.

Digital Advertising & Ecommerce
- Manage and optimise digital advertising and audience acquisition activity for Timed Online Auctions across relevant paid channels.
- Develop campaigns supporting both buyer acquisition and goods-getting objectives.
- Maintain ecommerce product feeds and identify lots, categories, products and audiences with strong potential for digital promotion.
- Manage day-to-day campaign setup, budgets, monitoring and optimisation.
- Analyse performance and identify opportunities to improve conversion and return on investment.
Reporting & Optimisation
- Maintain regular reporting on Timed Online Auctions and associated digital commerce performance.
- Monitor key measures including traffic, registrations, bidding, sell-through, revenue and marketing performance.
- Analyse performance by sale, category and acquisition channel and turn findings into practical recommendations.
- Monitor customer journeys and identify opportunities to improve search, browsing, registration and bidding experiences.
- Support ongoing testing and website development, helping prioritise improvements according to customer and commercial impact.
Competitor & Market Monitoring
- Monitor competitor auction and ecommerce activity, including sale structures, categories, customer experience and digital marketing.
- Be aware of wider ecommerce and digital developments that could benefit Lyon & Turnbull.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for someone who is digitally confident, organised and curious about what makes people discover, engage with and buy things online.
You may already have experience in digital marketing or ecommerce, or you may have developed relevant skills through a broader marketing role. Experience in ecommerce or digital retail is essential.
Experience of the auction or art market is not essential; we are keen to bring fresh ecommerce thinking and best practice from outside the industry.
You will ideally have experience or a good understanding of some of the following:
- Digital marketing and ecommerce
- SEO and content optimisation
- CRM and email marketing
- Paid digital advertising
- Website content management
- Analytics and reporting
- Online merchandising and customer journeys
