Lead the digital voice of a leading NHS organisation!
Are you a creative, strategic and digitally savvy communications professional ready to make a real difference?
We are looking for an experienced Digital Communications Lead to join the Communications Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) and play a key role in shaping how we communicate with our patients, staff, communities and wider audiences.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead innovative digital communications, develop compelling content and help strengthen NUH’s brand and digital presence. You’ll work under the guidance of the Head of External Communications while collaborating closely with the wider Communications and Engagement Team.
At the heart of the role is a clear purpose: using strategic storytelling, creative content and effective digital engagement to support NUH’s ambition to be outstanding in health outcomes and patient and staff experience.
About the role
As Digital Communications Lead, you will take ownership of the Trust’s digital communications activity, including its website, intranet and social media channels. You’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, developing campaigns and content that engage audiences and support the Trust’s priorities.
You will:
- Lead the proactive planning, management and delivery of digital communications and engagement activity.
- Manage, own and develop NUH’s public website, intranet and social media channels, identifying opportunities for new digital platforms where appropriate.
- Lead the day-to-day development and maintenance of digital channels, creating engaging and audience-focused content.
- Develop creative campaign concepts in partnership with the Communications Team to support strategic Trust priorities.
- Lead the development and management of the Trust’s brand and corporate identity, including creative and brand guidelines.
- Lead on video and photography production, including filming, editing, consent and delivery of content for different audiences.
- Set clear targets for digital activity and use analytics and evaluation tools to measure impact and continuously improve performance.
- Manage the contract for the Trust’s chosen social media platform.
- Keep up to date with emerging digital communications and social media trends, recommending new tools and approaches where they can improve engagement.
- Support the delivery of the Trust’s in-house printing function, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective communications materials.
- Ensure digital communications meet relevant requirements around accessibility, usability and data protection, including GDPR and PECR.
- Work collaboratively across the Communications and Engagement Team to ensure a consistent, joined-up approach to internal and external communications.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
