Digital Content Coordinator

Salary: Grade 5 (£37,712)
Location: London, King’s Cross (Aga Khan Centre) / Hybrid
Department: Office of Communications and Development
Contract: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week)

About the role

The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) is seeking a creative, organised, and audience-focused Digital Content Coordinator to help deliver and develop the Institute’s digital communications strategy. Reporting to the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, the postholder will work closely with colleagues across the Office of Communications and Development to create engaging digital content that showcases the Institute’s research, teaching, publications, events, and broader contribution to the study of Islam and Muslim societies.

The role will lead on the planning, coordination, and delivery of content across the IIS website, newsletters, social media channels, and digital learning platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing editorial calendars, developing compelling content, overseeing digital newsletters, supporting podcast production, and ensuring that digital communications are engaging, accurate, accessible, and aligned with the IIS brand and tone of voice.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced digital communications professional to play a key role in promoting the work of a respected international academic institution and helping to grow its digital presence and engagement.

What we're looking for

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in communications, journalism, digital media, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong track record of copywriting and editing for web, digital, and social media channels.
  • Excellent editorial judgement, with the ability to transform complex and scholarly material into compelling, accessible content.
  • Experience managing content plans, editorial workflows, and multi-stage review and approval processes.
  • Ability to analyse digital performance and audience engagement data to inform content planning and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with content management systems, email marketing platforms, and digital communications best practice would be advantageous.
  • Experience of podcast production, audio recording, editing, and content distribution would be beneficial.
