This is a key role in the Marketing, Communications & Engagement team, which supports the Garden's core mission, ethos, and ongoing success. Contributing widely and proactively, both strategically and operationally, the role will focus on creating compelling digital content across social media, web, photography, video, and email - that brings to life one of Wales' leading visitor attractions, including its attractive and diverse events and activities calendar. Through engaging storytelling and a strong digital presence, the postholder will help grow audiences, encourage visitor enjoyment, and support the organisation to drive footfall. In all aspects of the role, building excellent relationships with others inside and beyond the Garden is expected.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the Garden’s Marketing Strategy, with the aim of increasing visitor numbers and members, generating income, and improving the reputational profile for the Garden.
- Plan, create, and publish engaging bilingual digital content across the Garden's social media channels, website, and email newsletters, reflecting the breadth of the visitor offer - from seasonal blooms and wildlife to events, workshops, and family activities.
- Capture high-quality photography and video on-site, including at events and across the seasons, to build a rich content library that showcases the Garden as a visitor destination.
- Develop and manage a digital content calendar that aligns with the Garden's events and activities programme, ensuring timely promotion of events, activities and exhibitions.
- Write clear, engaging copy for web pages, blog posts, e-newsletters, and social posts that reflects the Garden's voice and encourages visits, bookings, and repeat engagement.
- Monitor and report on digital content performance (engagement, reach, web traffic, conversions) using analytics tools, using insights to refine content and improve results.
- Support the promotion of membership, retail, and hospitality offers through digital storytelling that complements wider marketing campaigns.
- Respond to comments and messages across social channels in a timely, on-brand manner, helping to build community and represent the Garden positively online.
- Work closely with colleagues across Horticulture, Education, Visitor Services, Science and Conservation, Maintenance and Retail to source content ideas and ensure digital output reflects what's happening on-site.
- Keep abreast of digital trends and visitor-attraction sector best practice, bringing fresh ideas to keep content engaging and competitive.
- Support the wider Marketing, Communications & Engagement team with ad hoc content needs, including press and PR digital assets, as required.
- Represent the Marketing Team (when required) at external events, shows and exhibitions in order to raise the Garden’s profile. This may include extensive travel including weekends

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
