Digital Delivery Manager

Contract Role – 12 Months (Inside IR35)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Agile Delivery Manager to join a major digital transformation programme, working closely with Product Managers and multi-disciplinary service squads to ensure effective, high-quality delivery of products and services.

This is a hands-on role for a proactive Delivery Manager who can hit the ground running, bringing proven leadership and a strong track record of running cross-functional Agile teams. You will balance Agile best practice with pragmatic delivery decisions, ensuring planning, execution, tracking and reporting of priorities across your squad.

You will also be part of a wider Delivery Manager Community of Practice, contributing to and helping raise standards of delivery management across the organisation.

Key Details

  • Location: Hybrid – 1-2 days per month required in the Newport office. Attendance in the office is required on Day 1 for security and IT equipment collection.
  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies – stand-ups, planning, retrospectives, and reviews – to maintain momentum and foster continuous improvement
  • Support the team in estimating, tracking, and delivering priorities in line with business goals
  • Work closely with Product Managers and technical stakeholders to understand priorities and dependencies
  • Oversee the daily flow of work items from backlog to delivery, using flow metrics to improve predictability and efficiency
  • Track and report against key milestones and forecasts, providing clear visibility of team progress
  • Represent the team at programme-level sessions, articulating updates, risks, and dependencies
  • Identify and address risks and issues promptly, ensuring mitigation plans are in place
  • Act as a key escalation point during live incidents, coordinating resolution and communication
  • Proactively remove blockers to team performance
  • Drive team maturity in Agile delivery practices, fostering a culture of learning and improvement
  • Manage cross-team dependencies, ensuring smooth integration and alignment of delivery plans

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Delivery Manager, running cross-functional Agile delivery teams
  • A relevant Scrum Master or Agile Project Management qualification (Prince2 not accepted)
  • Extensive experience of Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban, with knowledge of DevOps
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, with the ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience leading teams delivering solutions as part of a wider programme
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders, with an understanding of organisational and political context
  • Expertise in facilitating Agile ceremonies and team collaboration
  • Ability to manage priorities, dependencies, and risks effectively
  • Experience using Agile tools such as Azure DevOps, Actionable Agile, or similar
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience leading technical delivery teams using automated delivery methodologies (CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, etc.)
  • Ability to influence both within a technology function and across the wider organisation

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Familiarity with Kanban flow metrics and data-driven decision-making
  • Demonstrable experience producing high-value project delivery MI
  • Experience promoting the understanding and value of Agile within and outside of IT
  • Product Manager/Product Owner experience
  • Understanding of DSIT/CDDO digital and technology pipelines
