Digital Design Engineer

Derby

Full time

We are seeking an inspiring and hands-on Digital Design Engineer to accelerate product introduction and deliver digital solutions.

As part of a newly formed, cross-functional, global team, you will tackle exciting challenges in AI/ML, engineering design software development, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Physics-Based Modelling and Simulation, and Statistical Analysis.

Your expertise will help shape our strategy through working closely with Engineering and Digital/IT architects, driving the development of new capabilities, including methods, tools and processes, and collaborating with end users to deliver measurable business impact.

What you will be doing:

  • Engaging with internal customers to identify, prioritise and address key opportunities for the application of digital technologies, providing optimal impact and value to engineering design.
  • Developing a subset of digital technologies and delivering them into our wider digital architecture.
  • Developing and supporting codes and applications to enable the efficient deployment of digital technologies into our engineering business value streams.
  • Presenting work to both internal and external customers, including UTCs and governing bodies.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in digital design.
  • Working with extended, and not necessarily co-located, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Digital/IT architects and end users to support the development and deployment of new digital capabilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
