Company Description
For almost 50 years, Williams has been at the forefront of one of the fastest sports on the planet, being one of the top three most successful teams in history competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. With an almost unrivalled heritage of engineering and racing F1 cars and unforgettable eras that demonstrate it is a force to be reckoned with, the British squad boasts 16 F1 World Championship titles to its name.
Since its foundation in 1977 by the eminent, late Sir Frank Williams and engineering pioneer Sir Patrick Head, the team has won nine Constructors’ Championships, in association with Cosworth, Honda and Renault. Its roll call of drivers is legendary, with its seven Drivers’ Championship trophies being lifted by true icons of the sport: Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. The team has made history before and is out to make it again with a long-term mission to evolve and return to the front of the grid.
Job Description
Most digital design manager roles ask you to maintain what’s already been built. This one asks you to raise it. Williams F1 Team is in the middle of a serious brand evolution, and digital is the primary surface where fans, partners and the wider world experience it. The website, the app, the campaigns around the season’s biggest moments — these are where the brand lives in real time, and right now they have room to be significantly better. You’ll lead the digital creative output, owning the quality and direction of everything we put into the world across our owned digital channels. You’ll sit at the intersection of creative, social and brand — working directly with the Head of Creative, Head of Social and Head of Brand to make sure the digital work is integrated, consistent and genuinely excellent. This is a leadership role that carries real creative accountability, not just a coordination function. If you’re a senior designer ready to step up and run something, or a design manager who wants to do the best work of your career inside a genuinely iconic sport, this is the role.
Lead the Digital Creative
- Own the creative direction and quality bar across all digital outputs — williamsf1.com, the Williams F1 Team app, campaign assets, email, and the digital moments around key race activations.
- Set the standard for how the Williams brand expresses itself digitally, pushing the work to be sharper, more distinctive and more effective over time.
- Lead concept development for the season’s biggest digital moments — race activations, livery reveals, fan campaigns and product launches — from brief through to delivery.
- Oversee and contribute hands on to design work across the team, maintaining quality without becoming a bottleneck.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Integrate Across Creative, Social and Brand
- Work directly and regularly with the Head of Creative, Head of Social and Head of Brand to align digital creative with the broader brand and content strategy.
- Ensure digital outputs are genuinely integrated with social campaigns and brand activity — not treated as a separate stream.
- Act as the connective tissue between teams, spotting where creative could be unified and making it happen.
- Bring a point of view into senior creative conversations — representing the digital channel with authority and advocating for its potential.
Drive Performance and Fan Growth
- Partner with the Fan Growth & Performance team to deliver creative that performs — high quality assets built for paid and organic channels, optimised for reach, engagement and conversion.
- Champion a test and learn culture across digital creative — building systems and templates that allow for rapid iteration without sacrificing craft.
- Use performance data and fan insight to inform creative decisions and push for the next iteration of the work.
- Support the development of scalable creative systems that serve both the always on programme and campaign moments.
Build and Develop the Team
- Manage, mentor and develop the digital design team, creating an environment where craft is taken seriously and people grow.
- Lead briefing, feedback and review processes so the team has clarity and direction without being micromanaged.
- Identify resourcing needs, manage external partners and help shape the structure of the team as the function matures.
- Set a culture of accountability, creative ambition and collaborative working.

Evolve the Digital Design System
- Own the digital component library, design system and motion principles, keeping them current and genuinely useful to the people building with them.
- Work with the Head of Brand to ensure digital outputs are consistent with and actively strengthening the wider visual identity.
- Identify where the brand could be doing more digitally — more confident, more distinctive, more fan facing — and make the case for it.
Qualifications
- 7 or more years of design experience, with a proven track record leading digital creative at a senior level — ideally inside a fast moving consumer, sports or entertainment brand, or a top agency working in that space.
- A strong creative leader with a clear point of view and the credibility to bring others with you — whether that’s a junior designer, a head of social or a senior stakeholder.
- Deeply fluent across the full digital canvas: web, app, campaign, performance creative, brand. You understand how each surface works and what excellent looks like on each one.
- Experienced managing and developing designers, with a genuine interest in building a team and not just doing the work yourself.
- Highly collaborative and comfortable operating at the intersection of multiple creative disciplines — you’ve worked closely with social, brand and marketing leads before and you know how to make integrated creative happen.
- Expert in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects). You can get in the tools when the work demands it.
- Data informed but creatively led — you understand how to use performance insight to improve the work without letting it flatten it.
- Calm under pressure, decisive when it counts, and genuinely collaborative with the people around you.
- Passionate about Formula 1 — or the kind of person who commits fully to whatever sport or culture they get close to.
- Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media or a related field preferred; exceptional portfolio over credentials.
