Join MBDA's Digital Excellence Technical Undergraduate Placement
Develop your knowledge in digital capabilities that support MBDA from data & AI, cyber security, infrastructure, enterprise technology and business applications.
Digital Excellence brings together the Information Technology and Information Systems capabilities that underpin MBDA's digital environment from protecting our organisation and connecting our people, to designing enterprise solutions and developing AI & data that can transform the way we work.
Salary: £24,460
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
This role is scheduled to close for applications at midnight on Monday 4th January 2027 but may close earlier depending on application volumes.

The opportunity
During your one-year placement, you will join one of our Digital Excellence teams, with your placement area determined by business priorities and opportunities available at the time. This could include: Cyber, Digital Factory & Business Applications, Workplace Services, Infrastructure & Networks, Enterprise Architecture & AI & Data.
Whichever area you join, you will work alongside experienced specialists and contribute to real projects and business challenges. Depending on your placement, you could be designing digital solutions, analysing data, exploring emerging technologies, supporting enterprise platforms, strengthening our digital foundations or helping shape how technology is used across MBDA.
With support from experienced colleagues, you could develop skills in:
- Applying technology to solve complex problems
- Contributing to secure, scalable digital solutions
- Understanding enterprise technology and architecture
- Working with AI, data and emerging technologies
- Collaborating with technical specialists and business teams
- Presenting and communicating technical ideas
- Building relationships across an international organisation
The placement in Digital Excellence will give you hands-on experience of technology in a complex engineering environment, while building the technical, business and professional skills that will support your future career.

What we're looking for from you
- Current undergraduate working towards a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- You do not need to know exactly where you want your career to take you, we are looking for people with curiosity, enthusiasm and the ambition to learn, who want to explore how digital technology can make a real difference.
