6 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Lead, the Digital Executive will support the delivery of Cardiff Capital Region’s digital communications strategy. The role is responsible for managing digital channels, creating engaging content, delivering digital campaigns, and enhancing the organisation’s online presence to increase stakeholder engagement, strengthen the region’s profile, and support strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and schedule content across social media platforms, ensuring consistent and engaging communication.
  • Create high-quality written content for social media, websites, and digital campaigns.
  • Build and engage online communities, growing audience reach and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain and develop the organisation’s website, including supporting the implementation of a new website.
  • Lead SEO and PPC activities to improve digital visibility and performance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the organisation’s intranet.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to plan and deliver digital campaigns aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on website, social media, and campaign performance using analytics tools.
  • Produce reports and insights on campaign effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) for senior management.
  • Contribute to content planning, content calendars, and campaign development.
  • Design and produce basic marketing collateral and liaise with external creative agencies where required.
  • Upload and manage website content, including news articles, press releases, and corporate updates using WordPress.
  • Maintain secure records of digital platform login credentials and support day-to-day marketing and communications activities.
  • Undertake additional marketing and communications duties as required.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), or equivalent (desirable).

Knowledge & Experience

  • Good understanding of marketing principles and digital campaign delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication channels.
  • Knowledge of digital analytics and performance measurement.
  • Experience using social media management and content creation tools such as Canva and Hootsuite.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of content creation and design tools, including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience managing website content using content management systems such as WordPress.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information

  • Location: Hybrid working – Spark Building, Cardiff University, Maindy Road, Cardiff, with home working.
  • Hours per Week: 37 hours
  • Pay: Bi-weekly
