Summary

To manage, coach and monitor all aspects of the Digital Forensics Lab performance in conjunction with your line manager, HR and the Forensic Case Team. Act as first line support for a dedicated team of DF Analysts.

Main Job Summary

To manage, coach and monitor all aspects of the Digital Forensics Lab performance in conjunction with your line manager, HR and the Forensic Case Team. Act as first line support for a dedicated team of DF Analysts.

Oversee and model company behaviours to maximise team motivation and performance to the highest levels of precision and efficiency.

Conduct examinations of exhibits and follow the associated processes.

Main Duties & Responsibilities (other Duties May Be Assigned)

  • Lead and motivate team members and Analysts across the Laboratory to perform to the best of their ability
  • Assist with basic HR tasks, monitoring and provide feedback within one-to-one reviews
  • Lead on initial and ongoing training and competency delivery
  • Lead on large-scale and ongoing customer-facing project delivery
  • Assign case work to analysts and utilise CCL systems to effectively and proactivity manage caseloads to maintain efficiency, ensure deadlines are maintained and identify and address bottlenecks
  • Dip sample analysts output to ensure all quality and policy requirements are met
  • Monitor and address any challenges that may affect productivity and have an impact on the customer
  • Manage relevant aspects of CCL’s ISO standards and ensure that current processes and documentation are up to date and are adhered to
  • Actively liaise with Forensic Case Team to ensure maximum performance and ensure that customer requirements are met
  • Maintaining a safe, secure and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities for staff
  • Accomplish results by communicating job expectations; planning, resourcing, monitoring, appraising, coaching, counselling
  • Develop, coordinate and apply policies, procedures and overall quality standards
  • Scope new customer cases and projects; writing quotations and proposals for new opportunities
  • Maintain quality of service by leading on quality and customer service standards; resolving quality and customer service issues and recommending improvements
  • Contribute to Lab performance and maintaining technical skills with managing a small caseload

Required Skill Set & Experience

  • Experience working as a practitioner or leader in digital forensics
  • Previous people management experience
  • Sound understanding of current ACPO guidelines, ISO17025 and the FSR Code of Practice
  • Ability to develop, motivate, inspire and lead people to achieving their maximum potential
  • Previous experience using leading industry standard tools
  • Ability to work independently and make sound and reasoned judgements
  • Sound analytical and interpretation skills
  • Ability to work with precision, accuracy with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Experienced user off computers and technology, and comfortable learning a wide range of software and systems

Education

Degree level qualification (2:2 or above) BSc in IT, Computer Science or Digital Forensics is desirable

Other Role Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years UK residency
  • Full driving licence
  • Satisfactorily pass pre-hire and annual security clearance procedures in accordance with the ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) National Vetting Scheme.
