Who we are

Choose a Challenge helps university students take on extraordinary adventures while raising money for amazing charities. From Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp to marathons and UK endurance events, our participants do something unforgettable—and generate valuable fundraising income for causes they care about.

We’re a small, ambitious certified B-Corp, and we’re creating a dedicated Growth Marketing role for the first time.

This is an opportunity to build the function: improving what already works, fixing what doesn’t and creating a more reliable pipeline of new and returning challenge participants.

Role snapshot

  • Build and run our digital growth strategy, with an immediate focus on the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands.
  • Generate high-quality leads at sustainable acquisition costs—not reach and engagement for their own sake.
  • This is a hands-on role for people who like rolling up their sleeves; you’ll combine strategic ownership with practical delivery across paid social, content, CRM, data and conversion journeys.

The opportunity

Our model works and delivers real benefit for multiple stakeholders, raising millions for good causes and investing directly at the grassroots in poor communities around the world. The challenge is making it work more consistently, across more campuses without wasted spend.

You’ll report directly to the CEO and work alongside our Business Development and Ops & CX leads as part of the management team. You will own digital demand generation.

You’ll work closely with our existing organic content coordinator, helping shape the wider content pipeline while taking clear ownership of content strategy, paid acquisition, campaign performance and marketing systems.

This is not a role where you write a strategy and hand it to someone else. You should be equally comfortable opening Meta/Tik-Tok Ads Manager, interrogating a spreadsheet, improving a landing-page journey or turning raw participant footage into sets of usable short-form adverts.

What you’ll be doing

  • Build the annual growth plan around our defined operating cycles.
  • Plan, launch and optimise paid social media campaigns.
  • Develop stronger routes into target student communities.
  • Turn raw user-generated content into effective campaign assets that can be used at different stages of the marketing cycle.
  • Write and test advertising copy, hooks, creative variations and landing-page messages.
  • Improve lead capture, attribution and reporting across our website, JotForm, Brevo and campaign platforms.
  • Take responsibility for CRM segmentation and marketing-data hygiene.
  • Control marketing budgets and redirect spend quickly when activity is not producing worthwhile results.
  • Brief and manage agencies, freelancers, influencers, creators and other suppliers.
  • Develop a compelling alumni-trip proposition that encourages previous customers to travel with us again.
  • Develop other channels—including TikTok, YouTube and creator partnerships—and determine where there is a credible case for further investment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to show us that you have personally helped deliver measurable acquisition campaigns aimed at a comparable market and that you can do planning AND execution.

We’re particularly interested in people coming from university student recruitment, student or youth marketing agencies, travel, events, fundraising, or consumer brands with a strong student following. But the evidence of personal achievement matters more than the sector.

You should have:

  • Proven hands-on experience of advertising through Meta ads.
  • A clear understanding of budgets, qualified leads, acquisition costs and campaign performance (e.g. ROAS).
  • Confidence working with spreadsheets, CRM systems and imperfect marketing data.
  • Practical short-form video-editing skills, using CapCut, Adobe or a comparable platform.
  • Strong campaign copywriting and creative judgement.
  • Experience improving lead-capture and conversion journeys.
  • The ability to manage external specialists without becoming dependent on them.
  • The initiative to find and solve problems in a small business where responsibilities cannot always be neatly compartmentalised.

Experience with TikTok Ads, YouTube, Squarespace, marketing automation, influencers, user-generated content or AI-assisted creative workflows would be useful, but we are not expecting one person to arrive as an expert in everything.

We expect you to have completed a degree at a university in the UK or Ireland, but there is no specific degree subject requirement. We care much more about what you have achieved, what you personally contributed and what you learned when something did not work.

What success looks like

During your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to run one complete annual acquisition cycle. We’ll want to see:

  • A suitable and sustainable UGC creation/capture model.
  • More suitable leads.
  • Better coverage of priority campuses.
  • Disciplined and transparent acquisition costs.
  • A functioning alumni lead-generation proposition.
  • Cleaner marketing data and more dependable attribution.
  • Repeatable campaigns that the company can build on.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary package, depending on experience.
  • A performance-related bonus opportunity.
  • A permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Hybrid working, averaging two days each week in our City of London office, with the remainder from home.
  • 24 days’ annual leave plus public holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • A genuine opportunity to shape a new function and influence company strategy.
  • Direct access to the CEO and a place on the management team.
  • The potential to build a lean marketing team once the function has demonstrated its commercial value.

How to apply

Please submit your CV and a short supporting statement telling us:

  • About a campaign you personally helped deliver.
  • What you were responsible for, what was spent and what the campaign achieved.
  • How you have improved lead quality, reduced acquisition costs or responded to an underperforming campaign.
  • Why this particular combination of student audiences, adventure travel and charitable fundraising appeals to you.
