Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and be part of an innovative Trust-wide pilot programme.

Are you passionate about improving patient experience, reducing delays in care, and being involved in service transformation?

We are seeking three enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 staff members to join an exciting six-month pilot project focused on reducing on-the-day theatre cancellations and beyond across the Trust. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in designing and testing a new process that aims to improve operational efficiency whilst ensuring patients receive a more personalised and positive experience throughout their surgical journey.

As part of this pilot, you will work closely with Theatre Operational Teams, Care Groups, Clinicians, Nursing Teams and the Transformation Team to help shape and deliver a new approach to managing theatre cancellations. Successful candidates will be actively involved in co-designing processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and contributing to a project that has the potential to influence future Trust-wide ways of working.

This is more than just a Band 3 role. It is an opportunity to:

  • Be part of an innovative project with Trust-wide visibility.
  • Influence and co-design a new operational process from the ground up.
  • Develop valuable transformation, service improvement and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Gain experience working with the Trust's new Federated Data Platform (FDP).
  • Work alongside operational, clinical and transformational leaders.
  • Make a measurable difference to patient care by helping reduce on-the-day theatre cancellations.

If you are passionate about service improvement, enjoy problem-solving and want to help shape the future of theatre pathway management, we would love to hear from you.

Join us and help create a better experience for patients whilst delivering meaningful change across the Trust.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
