About The Role
The Borgen Project is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Advocacy Coordinator to join our team. This role involves developing and implementing advocacy strategies to influence legislation and public policy related to global poverty reduction. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of political processes, and a passion for social justice. As Advocacy Coordinator, you will work closely with our outreach teams, engage with policymakers, and mobilize supporters to drive policy change. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the organization's mission while gaining valuable experience in advocacy, policy analysis, and nonprofit operations. The role requires proactive engagement, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and mobilize diverse stakeholders towards common goals.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field. Prior experience in advocacy, lobbying, or nonprofit sectors is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to craft compelling messages tailored to different audiences. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are required. Familiarity with legislative processes, government relations, and grassroots mobilization is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a genuine commitment to social justice issues, possess a proactive attitude, and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic advocacy campaigns aimed at influencing policymakers and stakeholders to support initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission.
- Build and maintain relationships with legislators, government officials, and community leaders to foster support for anti-poverty policies.
- Draft and disseminate advocacy materials, including policy briefs, letters, and social media content, to raise awareness and mobilize supporters.
- Coordinate grassroots efforts, including organizing events, rallies, and meetings to amplify advocacy efforts.
- Monitor legislative developments and provide timely updates to the team, ensuring the organization remains informed and responsive.
- Collaborate with communication and outreach teams to craft messaging that resonates with diverse audiences and maximizes impact.
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Maintain detailed records of advocacy activities, stakeholder interactions, and policy progress to support organizational reporting and future planning.
