About The Role
The Borgen Project is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Advocacy Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing advocacy strategies aimed at influencing U.S. foreign policy to prioritize global poverty alleviation. You will serve as a key liaison between the organization, policymakers, and the public, ensuring that our advocacy efforts are effective, targeted, and aligned with our mission. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of policy processes, and a passion for social justice. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where your efforts will directly contribute to creating positive change for vulnerable populations worldwide.

- Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, international relations, or a related field.
- Prior experience in advocacy, policy analysis, or nonprofit work is highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for engaging with diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, community groups, and media outlets.
- A solid understanding of U.S. government processes, legislative procedures, and advocacy tactics is required.
- The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving is crucial.
- Familiarity with global development issues and a passion for social justice are highly valued.
- Candidates should also possess proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and advocacy tools.
Responsibilities
- The Advocacy Coordinator will be responsible for designing and implementing targeted advocacy campaigns to influence U.S. foreign policy related to global poverty reduction.
- Specific duties include:
- Conducting research on policy issues
- Preparing policy briefs and position papers
- Coordinating meetings with legislators and government officials
- The role involves:
- Engaging with grassroots organizations
- Mobilizing supporters
- Managing digital advocacy efforts through social media and email campaigns
- The coordinator will:
- Monitor legislative developments
- Track policy changes
- Report on advocacy outcomes
- Additionally, they will:
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop compelling content that raises awareness and garners support for our initiatives
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with policymakers, stakeholders, and partner organizations is vital to the success of this role.
- The position also requires regular participation in advocacy events, conferences, and public speaking engagements to promote the organization’s mission and objectives.
