About The Role
The Borgen Project is seeking a dedicated and proactive Advocacy Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing advocacy strategies aimed at influencing U.S. policy on global poverty issues. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for social justice, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders. The Advocacy Coordinator will play a vital role in organizing campaigns, managing outreach efforts, and ensuring the organization’s voice is heard in legislative processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful change on a national and international scale, working closely with a committed team of professionals who are passionate about ending global poverty.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, international relations, or a related field. Prior experience in advocacy, lobbying, or nonprofit work is highly preferred. Strong understanding of U.S. legislative processes, policy analysis, and grassroots organizing is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to engage diverse audiences and foster collaborative relationships. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. A passion for social justice and a commitment to the mission of The Borgen Project are fundamental to excelling in this role.
Responsibilities
- Developing strategic advocacy campaigns that align with the organization’s goals
- Researching policy issues and preparing briefing materials
- Coordinating outreach efforts to legislators and stakeholders
- Organizing and facilitating meetings, events, and advocacy days to raise awareness and mobilize support for global poverty initiatives
- Monitoring legislative developments and providing timely updates to the team
- Assisting in drafting policy recommendations and position statements
- Collaborating with the communications team to produce advocacy content, including social media posts, newsletters, and reports
- Building and maintaining relationships with policymakers, community groups, and partner organizations
- Tracking and evaluating the effectiveness of advocacy efforts to ensure continuous improvement and impact
