Interim Director – Digital Marketplace & Commercial Strategy

Contract: 6 months

Location: UK-based, remote but London office when required

Start: September 2026

The Opportunity

My client, a leading CRO, are supporting a global life sciences organisation with the launch and commercial development of a new externally facing digital marketplace.

They are looking for a senior Digital Marketplace / E-commerce leader to provide the commercial and customer-experience leadership required to launch, optimise and scale the platform.

This is a highly visible role sitting at the intersection of digital commerce, customer experience, product commercialisation and marketing.

The organisation already has the technical infrastructure and development capability in place. The requirement is for someone who can determine how the marketplace should work commercially - how customers discover offerings, understand their value, engage with them and ultimately convert.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial strategy and evolution of the digital marketplace
  • Shape how products and services are positioned, presented and discovered online
  • Own the customer journey from discovery through engagement, trial/demo and conversion
  • Drive product commercialisation, including pricing, positioning, packaging and digital merchandising
  • Identify opportunities to increase engagement, conversion, cross-sell and upsell
  • Use customer insight and digital behaviour to optimise the marketplace experience
  • Partner with UX/UI and technology teams to improve functionality and remove customer friction
  • Ensure products are compelling, easy to understand and discoverable
  • Define and monitor KPIs covering engagement, product interaction, trials, demos and conversion
  • Use data and insight to drive continuous commercial optimisation
  • Act as the senior commercial link between product, technology, marketing and commercial teams
  • Influence stakeholders across multiple geographies and functions
  • Drive marketplace adoption across product teams
  • Communicate performance, opportunities and strategic recommendations to senior leadership

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
