Role Overview

Enable, promote, and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge, and technology to support and improve health and healthcare delivery.

Position: Digital Midwife

Working with the Corporate Solutions IT team, the Digital Midwife will ensure UHMBT has the required information and technology services to provide excellent clinical care to its Midwifery patients, in conjunction with stakeholders throughout the wider health community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Corporate Solutions team to review the IT technology and equipment in maternity areas of the Trust.
  • Offer new ways of working using, for example, mobile technology to support future practices.
  • Ensure all key stakeholders are consulted in the design, delivery, and evaluation of clinical informatics systems. This includes women and families, carers, clinicians, technical and programme teams, and best practice groups.
  • Lead the governance process for clinical systems.
  • Participate and provide clinical expertise in the strategy development for the Lorenzo information system portfolio.
  • Lead the IT program across Maternity Services.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient design of Electronic Patient Records.

We operate from three main hospitals:

  • Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow
  • Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI)
  • Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal

Additionally, we have a number of community healthcare premises including:

  • Millom Hospital and GP Practice
  • Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe
  • Ulverston Community Health Centre

Community Service for Adults

  • Provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals
  • Aim: Work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
