Jump is looking for a Digital Modem Engineer to join our world-class wireless team. In this role, you will lead the design and development of custom, low-latency modem architectures for our point-to-point wireless networks around the globe.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, simulate, and realize innovative physical layer wireless communication algorithms for low latency applications
  • Implement modem/system models and perform detailed performance investigations to allow performance sign-off and enable RTL development
  • Collaborate with digital designers and firmware developers to realize algorithms with power and area efficient implementation

Skills You’ll Need:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in the design, build, and deployment of digital modem systems
  • Deep knowledge and demonstrated experience in digital modem design, including:
    • Transmit and receive pulse shaping digital filter design
    • Symbol rate throughput, latency, and spectral occupancy analysis and optimization
    • Carrier/symbol clock offset tracking and recovery
    • Adaptive equalization using blind, training-based, and decision-directed algorithms
    • Channel modeling and simulation
    • Fixed point design, simulation and analysis
  • Experience with Python, C/C++ and/or Matlab for algorithm development, modeling (floating-point and fixed-point) and link-level simulation
  • MS/PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Reliable and predictable availability

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in logic design for wireless modem FPGAs, ASICs, or custom data-path components for DSP applications (sequential and arithmetic components)
  • Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave components: oscillators, mixers, attenuators, amplifiers, couplers, isolators, Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) layout

Annual Base Salary Range

$150,000—$250,000 USD
