The Role
The Digital Planning Partner is a senior role within the client planning team, responsible for providing strategic digital leadership across a portfolio of clients. Working closely with planning, strategy, activation, data and technology specialists, the role helps clients unlock growth opportunities, enhance digital marketing effectiveness, and accelerate their digital maturity.
The role works across a broad portfolio of around ten clients, spanning a variety of sectors and with a significant performance marketing focus.
The Digital Planning Partner acts as a senior adviser to both clients and internal teams, ensuring best-in-class digital planning and measurement, driving digital marketing maturity, innovation, and proactively developing digital capability across the agency.
The role combines strategic thinking, commercial acumen and deep digital expertise to help clients solve business challenges, improve marketing performance and navigate an evolving media and technology landscape.
This is a digital planning leadership role rather than an in-platform activation role. You'll need broad expertise across the digital ecosystem and enough depth to challenge specialists, connect different disciplines and advise clients on where their digital marketing needs to go next.
You'll report into senior Planning leadership, directly manage three Digital Leads and have oversight of the output of a wider team of five.

- Ensure measurement and effectiveness approaches are embedded, advocating for robust attribution, reporting and data-driven decision making.
- Advise on AI advancements, solutions and the evolving landscape of digital media.

Internal
- Support and up-skill planning teams, helping to raise digital capability across the agency, including AI usage.
- Drive agency growth through client adoption of relevant services where mutually beneficial, owning internal commercial tracking.
- Collaborate with strategy, activation, data and analytics specialists to develop integrated client solutions. Contribute to the continued evolution of the agency's digital offering and capabilities.
- Act as a key point of connection between planning and activation teams across all digital media channels, ensuring strategy is translated into activation to deliver best-in-class digital planning.
- Develop and promote digital planning best practice, ensuring consistent standards across teams.
- Distil and share industry developments, emerging trends and innovation opportunities with colleagues and clients, providing opinion and thought leadership.
- Support agency growth through participation in new business opportunities and pitches.

- Identify opportunities for industry recognition of clients and agency through awards, PR and thought leadership.
- Support the creation of external-facing content, insights and market commentary.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key media, technology and platform partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the7stars
the7stars is unlike any other agency. The distinction started the day we launched in 2005 when we named ourselves after a pub, but more importantly when we made a promise that we were going to do things differently.
And this commitment has stuck with us. It guides how we work, how we think and how we treat one another and can be expressed in a single word.
Freedom.
Our Freedom philosophy lives across our entire business from people, product and planning. It means we plan & buy media how we want, develop careers how we want, take holiday when we need it, invent tools when we need them, give people a platform to speak up, question and express themselves freely - but more importantly it has allowed us to create an amazing place to work.
We have a unique working environment and open structure which encourages personal development through client contact, team work, training, exposure to all media and internal teams – and a “sky’s the limit” approach to your growth within the agency.
the7stars is 300 passionate media people that are able to focus purely on creating great work for our clients. UK focused, we also operate within an agile global network of like-minded friends, extending our client portfolio into Europe and the US.
If thinking freely and with integrity is your bag, then the7stars is an agency you should meet.
