Job Description
We are looking for a Digital Product Lead to own and drive the introduction and management of a customer app and online portal on behalf of our client, a UK energy supplier. You will ensure the platform is delivered with the client's technology partner, on time and to quality, and that it is developed to meet the business case objectives.
A key outcome of this role is to maximise customer take-up and active use of the app, and to ensure the product supports customer behaviour change to help minimise peak electricity consumption (e.g., through timely insights, prompts and nudges). You will set clear product outcomes, align stakeholders, and translate needs into a prioritised roadmap and backlog.
You will act as the day-to-day product owner and delivery lead — partnering with the technology partner and internal teams across Customer Experience, IT, Business Intelligence and Marketing. Once go-live is achieved, you will continue to develop the product to ensure sustained value.
Core Responsibilities
Product leadership and stakeholder alignment
- Continually refine the product vision, outcomes and success measures (adoption, engagement, customer satisfaction, and peak-consumption reduction).
- Lead with the technology partner and internal stakeholders: scope, priorities, decision-making, risks/issues, and delivery status.
- Champion customer needs and behaviour change principles in design — ensuring journeys are simple, accessible and consistent across app and portal.
- Align new processes, roles, controls and service model impacts (contact centre, digital support, billing, complaints).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- Run discovery with customers and colleagues to identify priority journeys (onboarding, account view, usage insights, payments, support) and peak-related behaviours to influence.
- Translate needs into epics, user stories and acceptance criteria; maintain and prioritise the product backlog and release plan.
- Manage delivery with the technology partner: clarify requirements, agree sprint/release commitments, manage dependencies and ensure documentation and handover are complete.
- Ensure the platform supports behaviour change and peak reduction — e.g., usage visibility (near real-time where available), peak alerts, goal-setting, prompts, and tariff/incentive journeys as applicable.
- Partner with Marketing/Comms to build the adoption plan: propositions, onboarding, app-store readiness, campaigns, and measurement of funnel conversion.
Quality, testing and cutover
- Own end-to-end quality across app and portal: functional, integration, performance and accessibility testing, with clear entry/exit criteria.
- Coordinate UAT with internal teams and the technology partner; ensure traceability from requirements to test cases, and run defect triage and prioritisation.
- Assure data, integrations and reporting (e.g., customer/account data, usage data where applicable, communications) including reconciliation and controls.
- Lead go-live readiness and launch (app-store releases, communications, support model, monitoring, hypercare).
Adoption, change and continuous improvement
- Deliver adoption and change: onboarding journeys, in-app guidance, customer communications, colleague training, and an effective digital support and escalation model.
- Define and track KPIs (downloads/registrations, activation, MAU/DAU, self-serve rates, customer satisfaction, and peak-demand outcomes) and establish a regular performance cadence.
- Run post-launch optimisation using insights and experimentation between cohorts of customers to improve journeys and strengthen behaviour change impacts over time.
