Role Summary:
We’re on a mission to empower energy independence and reshape how homes interact with the grid. As we scale our Home Energy Management System (HEMS) platform, we’re looking for a Product Owner to help drive the development and delivery of features that sit at the heart of the connected, intelligent home.
This role is instrumental in executing the digital product roadmap, balancing technical execution with commercial outcomes.
You’ll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, UX, commercial, and support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and prioritise the software backlog across front and backend digital platforms
- Define and refine epics, features and user stories for the software team
- Act as Product Owner in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery environment
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retros
- Balance customer value, quality, technical debt and delivery risk
- Support software release planning and coordination
- Align software development with:
- Firmware Product Owner
- Digital Product Manager
- Product Managers for each physical product category
- Manage cross-team dependencies to ensure end-to-end feature delivery
- Work alongside the Development & Project Managers (PMs own overall project delivery, HW/FW delivery, trials, regulatory approval, manufacturing and launch)

Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner delivering software, API-based services, or platform products
- Technical literacy - able to understand system architecture, IoT protocols, and hardware/software interfaces
- Experience working in agile environments, managing cross-functional backlogs, and delivering iteratively
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally
Desirable Experience
- Experience in the energy, EV, or smart home sectors
- Familiarity with protocols such as OCPP, Modbus, MQTT, or similar
- Experience delivering connected products that combine hardware, firmware, and cloud software
- Knowledge of the UK energy flexibility landscape, including grid services and dynamic tariffs
- Experience with data science & leveraging big data sets to create compelling user features
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (e.g. Mech / Electriccal Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Energy Systems, Product/Design Engineering)
- Agile or product certifications (e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe, Pragmatic Institute) are a plus
