Role Summary
The Digital Product Owner will support the successful delivery of Wattle’s website and portal projects by translating client needs into clear requirements, user stories, and actionable product backlogs.
The role will act as a practical bridge between clients, project managers, creative designers, and developers. They will support discovery workshops, review wireframes, capture web and portal requirements, and help ensure digital solutions are clear, usable, and aligned to Wattle’s product and delivery standards.
This is a developing Product Owner role. The successful candidate will not be expected to own full product strategy, but they will need strong digital and web knowledge, confidence working with technical teams, and the ability to turn client conversations into structured delivery outputs where required.
This is a hybrid role where you will be expected to be in the office two days a week (Tuesday & Wednesday) with the option to work the remaining three days from home.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements and Discovery
- Support and, where appropriate, lead digital and web-facing workshops.
- Capture clear website and portal requirements from clients and internal stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into structured requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Ask clear follow-up questions to uncover user needs, edge cases, and delivery risks.
- Support functional consultants and project managers during discovery and design phases.
2. Backlog and User Story Ownership
- Create and maintain backlogs for assigned projects.
- Write user stories and acceptance criteria that are clear, testable, and ready for development.
- Help prioritise backlog items based on client value, delivery sequencing, and technical dependencies.
- Support backlog refinement with developers, designers, and project managers.
- Maintain good governance in Azure DevOps or equivalent delivery tools.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
