Digital Programme Manager Salary up to £70,000 + benefits package | 3-Year FTC Contract | Hybrid Working | West Midlands
We’re looking for an experienced Programme Manager to lead a major digital transformation programme for a higher education institution.
This is an opportunity to shape and define a near-enterprise-scale digital strategy, rather than simply deliver a pre-defined programme of projects. The programme is currently focused on areas including recruitment, marketing and admissions, and is now preparing to scale significantly across multiple portfolios including staff, students and wider institutional services. The programme operates in an Agile environment, with the Programme Manager owning the roadmap, priorities and future direction.
The Role
You’ll lead the programme from definition through to delivery, working closely with senior stakeholders, digital and technical teams, external partners and colleagues across the University.

You’ll be responsible for:
- Owning the short and long-term programme roadmap and quarterly planning.
- Defining what comes next rather than simply delivering pre-scoped activity.
- Leading multiple business and technical workstreams as the programme scales.
- Managing governance, risks, dependencies, budgets and benefits.
- Building confidence and trust with senior stakeholders.
- Translating between business needs and technical delivery.
- Leading organisational readiness, adoption and business change.
- Working within an Agile/hybrid delivery environment.
About You
This role is suited to someone who has extensive experience within large, complex Agile programmes at near-enterprise scale.

You’ll need:
- Significant experience leading large-scale, complex Agile programmes.
- Proven experience defining programmes and owning roadmaps, rather than delivering pre-defined projects.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- The confidence to navigate a politically complex environment where change can generate strong and competing views.
- The ability to build trust quickly with senior stakeholders and create confidence in both yourself and the programme.
- Strong programme governance, risk, financial and benefits management experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across technical and non-technical audiences.
