About The Role

We're seeking a skilled and innovative Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to join our team at our Gloucester site. This exciting role will involve working on advanced Research & Development (R&D), software-defined radio (SDR) systems, and payload development for a variety of Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence programmes. If you have experience in reverse engineering and a strong background in DSP, this is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and further develop your expertise.

At Lockheed Martin, we provide our engineers with meaningful work, professional development opportunities, and a healthy work-life balance. We offer flexible working hours, hybrid work options where possible, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both your professional and personal growth.

As a DSP Engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, applying your expertise to reverse engineer existing systems, develop new DSP algorithms, and design and integrate SDR platforms. You will also play a pivotal role in payload development and contribute to the continuous improvement of mission-critical technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reverse Engineering & Analysis – Hardware, software, and signals based reverse engineering of RF systems: identify vulnerabilities or areas for improvement.
  • Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Development – Develop and optimize SDR solutions using cutting-edge DSP techniques for various applications in communications and signal processing.
  • R&D and Algorithm Development – Design and develop new DSP algorithms to enhance the performance of SDR systems, focusing on signal detection, classification, and exploitation.
  • Payload Development – Contribute to the development of payloads for advanced communications systems, ensuring compatibility with both existing and future technologies.
  • Testing and Validation – Work closely with testing teams to validate and optimize system performance through laboratory testing, real-world experimentation, and field trials.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration – Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware and software engineers, to integrate DSP solutions into larger mission systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
