Job Summary

To provide specialist advice and support in the generation and provision of reliable infrastructure solutions activities to support key deliverables and informed decision making, through the execution of predefined objectives as per agreed SOPs.

Job Purpose

To provide specialist advice and support related to applications analysis or services, to meet client needs, through the execution of predefined objectives as per agreed standard operating procedures (SOPs). Selecting this role has a compensation & benefit impact in Kenya. Please contact Reward for details.

Key Accountabilities

  • Software Development – 40%
    • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices.
    • Build scalable and secure enterprise-grade solutions using modern development frameworks.
    • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integration services.
    • Implement application security controls and secure coding practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and application defects.

  • Architecture & Engineering - 5%

    • Contributes to solution design and technical architecture discussions.
    • Develop cloud-native and containerized applications.
    • Ensure systems are scalable, resilient, performant, and maintainable.
    • Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
  • DevSecOps & CI/CD - 20%

    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated software delivery.
    • Integrate security controls into development and deployment processes.
    • Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to implement infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation.
    • Monitor application performance and support operational excellence.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: 15%

    • Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests.
    • Support automated testing and quality assurance frameworks.
    • Ensure code quality through peer reviews, static code analysis, and test coverage metrics.
    • Participate in release management and deployment activities.
  • Cloud & Containerization: 10%

    • Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments.
    • Utilize container technologies for application packaging and deployment.
    • Support platform modernization initiatives leveraging cloud-native capabilities.
  • Collaboration & Delivery: 10%

    • Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, QA Engineers, and other developers.
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
    • Provide technical documentation and knowledge sharing across teams.

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or any IT related fields.

Preferred Experience

  • At 3–7 years of software development experience (level can be adjusted based on seniority).
  • Demonstrated experience developing enterprise backend applications.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience with cloud-native application development and CI/CD delivery pipelines.
