MECCA Digital Architect
MECCA's Digital platforms are going through a significant rebuild, and we need someone who can shape the architecture behind it. This role sits at the center of that work: partnering with Product, Engineering and Delivery from the earliest discovery conversations right through to implementation, across eCommerce, Mobile, Customer Identity, Loyalty and Marketing.
What's in it for you
- Real influence, early — you're shaping solution options and key design decisions in pre-discovery,
- Breadth, not a narrow lane — architecture across eCommerce, Mobile, Customer Identity, Loyalty and Marketing,
- A seat at the table — direct exposure to Technology Leadership, Enterprise PMO and Architecture Governance forums
- A hand in defining what "modern" means here — API-first, cloud-native, event-driven, with real license to reduce the point-to-point integration mess that builds up over time
What you'll be doing
- Shape solution architecture across Digital initiatives from ideation through to implementation, providing clear direction and supporting delivery
- Partner in pre-discovery and initiative shaping — clarifying business problems, exploring solution options, and defining the architectural approach
- Produce and maintain architecture artefacts: conceptual architectures, solution designs, integration models, architecture decisions and non-functional requirements
- Define scalable, secure and reusable architecture patterns across Digital Commerce, Mobile, Customer Identity, Loyalty, Marketing and Customer Experience
- Partner with Product, Delivery and Engineering teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, and work with Data, Security, Platform and Enterprise Architecture to navigate cross-domain dependencies
- Contribute to technology evaluations, platform selection and vendor assessments
- Support and mentor engineers and emerging architects, and represent MECCA in relationships with technology vendors and delivery partners

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll bring
- 7+ years' experience in Solution Architecture within enterprise Digital environments
- Experience designing and delivering Digital Commerce and customer-facing technology solutions
- Experience across Digital platforms including eCommerce, B2C Mobile, Customer Identity, Loyalty, CRM and Marketing Technology
- Experience with API-first architecture, cloud-native platforms and modern integration patterns
- Good understanding of architecture governance, security and non-functional requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and experience working with Agile delivery teams, technology partners and external vendors
Nice to have: retail or omnichannel experience, exposure to the Salesforce ecosystem (Commerce Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, Data Cloud, Loyalty Management), MACH/composable or headless commerce exposure, cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS or GCP), or TOGAF (or equivalent) certification. None of these are dealbreakers on their own — if your enterprise Digital architecture fundamentals are strong, we're more interested in that than a perfect tool checklist.
