PROPOSED SALARY RANGE
Up to £35,000 (Full Time Equivalent) plus £5,441 London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join BBC Studios as a Digital Subtitling Editor, helping make our content accessible and engaging for audiences across a range of digital brands and platforms. You’ll be responsible for creating accurate, high-quality subtitles for video content, ensuring they meet editorial and brand standards while enhancing the viewing experience. This role is ideal for someone with exceptional attention to detail who enjoys language, accuracy and working with digital content.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Create and edit subtitle files for digital video content, ensuring a high standard of accuracy, readability and accessibility.
- Review and correct automated transcripts, checking spelling, grammar, punctuation and timing to deliver polished subtitle files.
- Apply editorial and brand style guidelines consistently across multiple channels and content types.
- Research and fact-check names, locations, terminology and references to ensure editorial accuracy.
- Manage multiple subtitling requests efficiently, maintaining version control and delivering work accurately within agreed deadlines.

Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Excellent proofreading and sub-editing skills, with outstanding spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to editorial accuracy and consistency.
- Demonstrable experience applying editorial standards, style guides or quality-control processes.
- Strong research and fact-checking skills, with the ability to investigate and verify information independently.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desired But Not Required
- Previous experience in subtitling, transcription, captioning or similar editorial work.
- Experience using workflow or project management tools such as Monday.com.
- Experience working with digital asset management, file-sharing or version-control systems.
- Knowledge of BBC brands, content, audiences and the wider digital media landscape.
