Job Description
Overview
At AtkinsRéalis Nuclear, we’re using digital technologies to find new and better ways of delivering engineering projects. From augmented reality and immersive environments to robotics and digital tools, our teams are exploring technology that helps people collaborate, solve problems and work more effectively.
Our Digital Labs bring this approach to life. Our Whitehaven Digital Lab includes an immersive room, robotics space, XR devices and a range of digital technologies for colleagues and clients to explore and use.
We’re looking for a Digital Support Technician to help make our Digital Lab a welcoming, organised and supportive environment where people feel confident using technology.
You don’t need to be an engineer or already know how to use every piece of technology in the lab. What matters most is your curiosity, willingness to learn, organisational skills and enjoyment of helping others. We’ll provide training, guidance and mentoring to help you develop.
You’ll work with a variety of colleagues, including project managers, engineers, administrative colleagues, apprentices and graduates, while also connecting with our wider Nuclear Digital team.
This role is a great opportunity to build your experience with digital technology and data. As you develop, you’ll have opportunities to explore areas that interest you, which could include photography, video editing, graphic design, coding or electronics. Previous experience in these areas isn’t required.
The role can also provide a foundation for further development, including the opportunity to progress towards our Digital Technology Apprenticeship.
Your role
As our Digital Support Technician, you’ll help colleagues and clients get the most from our Digital Lab and its technology.
You’ll:
- Coordinate bookings and calendars, helping colleagues plan their use of the immersive room, digital equipment and other facilities while making sure the appropriate support is available.
- Maintain accurate booking information, helping us understand how our spaces and technology are being used, support client charging and identify future demand.
- Keep the Digital Lab welcoming and well organised, checking technology and equipment, making sure everything is ready to use and preparing spaces for planned activities.
- Support colleagues using technology, helping with straightforward questions and technical issues while working with IT teams or technology suppliers when additional expertise is needed.
- Look after our digital equipment, including cameras, VR headsets and other portable technology, helping colleagues access what they need and coordinating maintenance or replacements when required.
- Support the organisation of digital data, helping ensure files are clearly named, appropriately stored, easy to locate and accessible to the right people.
- Help colleagues build confidence with new technology by contributing to training materials, guidance and videos, sharing useful solutions and keeping training records up to date.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
