Digital Trading Lead

£65,000-£80,000 | South-West London | Hybrid, 3 days in office

Zachary Daniels is exclusively representing a leading specialist sports retailer in the search for a Digital Trading Lead.

This is a newly created senior ecommerce role within a well-established, highly regarded consumer brand that is entering an exciting new phase of digital growth. Following a successful Shopify replatform, the business is now looking to significantly develop its online trading capability, improve customer experience and build out its marketplace proposition.

You will become the senior ecommerce operator within the business, working closely with the Head of Digital and taking real ownership of the performance and future direction of the website.

This is a role with genuine scope. Initially, they need someone who is happy to be hands-on, close to the numbers and comfortable getting into the detail. Longer term, there is a clear opportunity for this person to develop into a Head of Ecommerce position as the team and function grow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own the ecommerce trading plan, promotional calendar and weekly trading performance
  • Drive conversion, customer journey improvements and overall site performance
  • Lead onsite search, merchandising and product discovery across Shopify
  • Identify opportunities across personalisation, CRO, A/B testing and AI-led search
  • Work closely with CRM, performance marketing, development and wider digital teams

You will also manage and develop a junior eCommerce team member, while helping shape how the wider eCommerce function evolves over the next few years.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong eCommerce trading experience at Senior eCommerce Manager, Digital Trading Lead or similar level
  • Someone genuinely hands-on who enjoys making things happen, not simply overseeing delivery
  • Strong commercial and analytical thinking with a clear focus on customer and performance
  • Experience with search and merchandising tools such as Algolia or similar
  • Experience within sport, cycling, outdoor, activewear, lifestyle or specialist retail would be highly relevant

You do not need to come from the sports industry. The priority is finding someone with strong Ecommerce capability who understands customers, products, brands and how to build a great online trading experience.

This is a rare opportunity to join an established brand with a huge amount still to build digitally. The foundations are in place, but there is real freedom to influence what comes next across trading, personalisation, marketplace, search, CRO and wider ecommerce strategy.

If you are looking for a role where you can stay close to the detail today while building towards a broader leadership position tomorrow, this is well worth a conversation.
