Role Overview

The Digital Trading & Merchandising Manager is responsible for driving the performance and revenue of our digital store experience across a portfolio of 90,000+ life science products. This role sits at the intersection of ecommerce strategy, digital experience, and digital merchandising, helping scientists discover the right products and content while maximizing engagement, conversion, and revenue.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Digital Commerce and is part of the Global Marketing team. This is an on-site role.

Responsibilities

  • Own Abcam's digital trading and merchandising strategy and plan, leveraging new and existing ecommerce tools across key customer journeys, including Homepage, Search, Category Pages, PDPs, Basket, and Checkout, to maximize product visibility, customer engagement, and commercial performance across the portfolio.
  • Lead the global promotional calendar and digital merchandising execution, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, product launches, inventory priorities, and growth targets, while managing the placement of promotions, featured products, recommendations, campaign assets, and cross-sell/up-sell initiatives to increase conversion and Average Order Value (AOV).
  • Drive product discoverability and onsite optimisation, overseeing search, navigation, filtering, taxonomy, category merchandising, and conversion initiatives to ensure customers can efficiently find and purchase relevant products.
  • Act as the strategic partner to Product Management and Commercial teams, translating portfolio, category, and regional priorities into impactful digital merchandising strategies, while collaborating across the organization to deliver consistent and commercially effective customer experiences.
  • Leverage data and AI to optimize trading performance and shape future agentic approaches to trading, defining and deliver new ecommerce capabilities, merchandising tools, and platform enhancements.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, ecommerce, or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience across digital trading, merchandising or ecommerce in a global, multi-category digital business with a large catalog.
  • Experience managing global ecommerce merchandising, customer acquisition and cross-sell/up-sell initiatives.
  • Strong experience with search, CMS and merchandising platforms such as Coveo, Adobe Experience Manager, TalonOne, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar tools.
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder/program and communication skills, with experience deriving actionable insights from large data sets and driving impactful commercial initiatives that drive measurable business impact.

  • Some travel may be required. No more than 15%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Life Sciences, Healthcare, B2B Ecommerce, or complex product catalogs.
  • Experience with personalization, recommendation engines, and AI-powered merchandising solutions.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of SEO and digital acquisition channels.
