I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your day begins by reviewing the schedule, menu, reservations, resident allergies, texture requirements & preferences, and tours or special events planned for the day. You ensure both the independent and assisted living Dining Room is clean, organized, and set to our premium standard, with table settings, service stations, and ambiance prepared before residents and guests arrive.
Before meal service begins, you lead pre-service with the dining team to review the menu, daily features, service expectations, resident needs, and relevant ingredient or dietary information. You assign service areas, confirm that the team is prepared, and reinforce the details required to provide personalized “5 Star” service.
During meal service, you remain visible and engaged in all dining areas including the AL DR, welcoming residents and guests, supervising the flow of service, and supporting team members as needs arise. You monitor service timing, presentation, and the overall dining experience, responding to special requests and resolving concerns with sound judgment, professionalism, and care.
Throughout the day, you collaborate with the Culinary and Wellness teams to support resident preferences and changing needs. You also coordinate the service of special events, ensuring set-up, staffing, and execution are organized and that every detail reflects our premium hospitality standards.
As residents and guests complete their meals, you oversee clearing, cleaning, and resetting the Dining Rooms while ensuring established procedures and sanitation standards are consistently followed. You confirm that the room and service areas are fully prepared for the next meal period or event.
