An outstanding prep school and nursery located in South East London for students 3 years old to 11. Catering for just under 500 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of lunch with some high-end hospitality throughout the year. This location operates Monday to Friday and operates mainly term time. Additionally, this location benefits from great transport links.
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and organised Dining Hall Assistant to support the smooth delivery of food and service within a school or similar catering environment.
The successful candidate will help create a welcoming dining experience, support children during meal times, and maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the serving of food and drinks to children, staff, and guests as required.
- Encourage positive and healthy eating habits and provide a friendly and supportive service.
- Ensure children with food allergies or intolerances receive the correct meals and follow all allergen procedures.
- Follow food hygiene, health, and safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Set up the dining hall before service and ensure it is clean, tidy, and ready for use.
- Clear tables and clean the dining hall following meal service.
- Work closely with the kitchen and catering team to ensure an efficient and high-quality service.
- Provide a welcoming and professional customer service experience.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised dining hall environment.
- Carry out other reasonable duties required to support the catering operation.

Skills And Experience
- Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, school, or customer service environment is desirable.
- Experience of working with children is desirable but not essential.
- A genuine interest in food and providing excellent customer service.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and procedures.
- Ability to work in a busy environment while maintaining high standards.
Knowledge And Competencies
- Reasonable to good verbal English communication skills.
- Reasonable to good written English and reading skills.
- Understanding of basic food hygiene and health and safety requirements is desirable.
- Ability to follow food allergy and intolerance procedures accurately.
- Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for children.
