This role is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract ending December 2027

Role Description

As a Direct Tax Accountant, you will contribute to delivering a high-performing central tax function for the Allianz UK Group, ensuring corporate and direct tax compliance requirements are met while supporting tax reporting, advisory activities and business projects. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise within a global organisation and gain exposure to a broad range of tax matters across the business.

Location

This role is based in our Guildford office, please note that this is a hybrid role with the expectation you attend the office on Mondays and Thursdays.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £65,000 per year.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

As a Direct Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, submitting and obtaining agreement from HMRC on all relevant corporate and direct tax returns and associated payments.
  • Maintaining compliance records and documentation to ensure all required tax filings and payments are made within statutory deadlines.
  • Maintaining tax accounts and balances for the Allianz Insurance UK Group.
  • Supporting on tax advisory matters and contribute to specific tax projects across the business.
  • Monitoring developments in tax legislation and communicate relevant updates and impacts to stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors and tax authorities.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the tax function.

Essential Skills

  • Fully qualified ACCA, ACA or CTA, or working towards becoming fully qualified.
  • Proven experience in corporate and/or direct tax, tax reporting and compliance activities.
  • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Experience using tax specialist software such as AlphaTax and accounting systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to interpret, research and clearly communicate technical tax matters.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting tax advisory projects or process improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of insurance industry tax considerations
  • Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage
