Title and Summary
Director, Account Management
The Director, Business Development, UK & Ireland will play a key role in accelerating B2B acceptance growth by helping more suppliers accept commercial card payments, supporting acquirers to grow their B2B businesses, and turning Mastercard's capabilities into measurable commercial outcomes.
Working closely with the UK&I Director, B2B Acceptance, this role will focus on supplier growth, partner activation and market execution across acquirers, issuers, suppliers, fintechs, platforms and strategic ecosystem partners.
The successful candidate will understand both commercial payments and the broader finance landscape, helping businesses understand how commercial card acceptance can complement wider working capital, receivables and liquidity strategies while delivering operational and financial benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Accelerate adoption of Mastercard's B2B acceptance capabilities, including MRM, CDP and future acceptance solutions.
- Identify new payment flows, market opportunities and industry segments where Mastercard can drive acceptance growth.
- Support acquirers in developing, launching and scaling their B2B acceptance propositions.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of B2B acceptance opportunities, converting Mastercard's strategy into measurable volume growth and market outcomes.
- Develop repeatable growth models that can be scaled across multiple partners and industries.
- Lead supplier engagement and activation efforts across UK&I, building relationships with strategic suppliers, finance leaders and key decision-makers.
- Work alongside acquirers to identify and engage suppliers with significant acceptance and volume potential.
- Understand supplier economics, payment behaviours and working capital priorities to shape compelling value propositions.
- Position commercial card acceptance as part of a broader finance and liquidity strategy alongside solutions such as invoice finance, supply chain finance and other working capital tools.
- Develop relationships across acquirers, issuers, fintechs, ERP providers, platforms and strategic partners to unlock growth opportunities.
- Work closely with regional and global teams to bring proven capabilities, partnerships and ideas into UK&I.
- Develop industry-specific sales plays, value propositions and commercial growth strategies.
- Support the commercialisation of Mastercard acceptance capabilities through partner go-to-market activity and customer engagement.
- Support market education, thought leadership and partner enablement initiatives.
- Represent Mastercard internally and externally as a subject matter expert on B2B acceptance and commercial payments.
- Work cross-functionally across Product, Sales, Services, Marketing and Customer Delivery teams to accelerate execution and market growth.

Experience
- 8+ years' experience in payments, acquiring, commercial cards, banking, fintech, business development and/or related industries.
- Experience working with acquirers, issuers, payment providers, banks and large corporate organisations.
- Proven track record of delivering commercial growth, developing partnerships and managing complex stakeholder environments.
- Direct experience engaging suppliers and supporting supplier acquisition, activation or growth initiatives.
- Experience operating within finance, treasury, receivables, working capital, procurement or invoice-driven business environments is highly desirable.

Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong understanding of commercial payments, merchant acceptance and acquiring ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of supplier economics, working capital management and broader corporate finance solutions.
- Knowledge of how commercial card acceptance complements wider financial products, including invoice finance, supply chain finance, dynamic discounting and liquidity solutions.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms, payment automation solutions and invoice-driven payment environments.
- Understanding of AP, AR, Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash processes.
- Awareness of alternative payment methods and emerging B2B payment models.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong commercial, consultative selling and relationship management skills.
- Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders across financial institutions, corporates, suppliers and finance functions.
- Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and execution capability within a matrix organisation.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate market insights into scalable growth opportunities.
- Entrepreneurial, self-driven and results-oriented, with strong ownership and accountability.
