The unique opportunity
The UK Healthcare market is at an inflection point: demand is rising, capacity is constrained, and the system is accelerating digital transformation—creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve outcomes and productivity through AI and data.
We are seeking to expand our AI and Data team to add Directors, working alongside consultants delivering critical value for health clients across the UK or Ireland.
As a Director of AI & Data Strategy, your role is pivotal in driving continued growth of our Healthcare Practice. You’ll lead high-impact projects for public and private healthcare clients across the NHS, private health and beyond. This role requires deep knowledge of AI and enterprise data, specifically their application in healthcare, as you mentor teams and shape EY’s service proposition.
Responsibilities
Strategic & Client Leadership
- Lead strategic relationships with NHS Board-level executives, regional and national health organisations, Providers, and ICSs
- Serve as a trusted advisor on how AI and data drive:
- Financial improvement
- Operational excellence
- Large-scale service redesign
- Digital transformation (leveraging AI-ready data and frontier AI models)
- Oversee complex technology programs ensuring delivery excellence, commercial performance, risk management, and high-impact outcomes

Practice Leadership & Sector Growth
- Define market strategy and AI/Data thought leadership tailored for the healthcare sector
- Lead go-to-market initiatives for productivity gains, cost efficiencies, and system transformation
- Represent EY’s core values, commercial standards, and technical excellence to health stakeholders
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Own and grow a high-value revenue portfolio, including:
- Pipeline generation
- Multi-year client relationships
- Leading major proposals and bids (acting as Bid Lead on high-stakes pursuits)
People Leadership & Culture
- Inspire, develop, and mentor high-performing teams across AI, data, and healthcare etworks
- Champion:
- Diversity
- Inclusion
- Psychological safety
- Wellbeing in client-facing roles
Requirements
Essential Skills
- Expertise delivering data/AI-led transformation projects in healthcare (particularly NHS/UK systems) focusing on enterprise AI strategy
- Deep understanding of UK health policies, operational challenges, and data-analytics solutions
- Experience with large-scale healthcare datasets:
- SUS (Secondary Uses Service)
- SLAM (Scheduled, L 티 香港高 Hackney, entrepreneursip (Shpp Considerand Development)
- HES (Hospital Episode Statistics)
- ESR (Electronic Staff Records)
- Proven ability managing data integration, quality, and governance programs
- Technical proficiency with modern data platforms (at least one):
- Microsoft Fabric
- Snowflake
- Databricks — and the ability to apply them in healthcare analytics/AI
- Practical knowledge of leading frontier AI models relevant to healthcare

Desired Skills
- IT strategy experience (roadmap, operating model, governance, enterprise architecture)
- Leading complex analytics engagements in:
- Financial/system optimisation
- Operational intelligence
- Demand/capacity planning
- Insight into AI governance, model risk management, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated success as an Engagement Lead (commercial, risk, and relationship oversight)
