The Role:
The Senior Director, Data Sciences is responsible for defining, developing, and delivering Data Sciences services for our Nottingham, Miami and partner sites. A core part of this role will be embedding AI-enabled solutions, tools and capabilities that materially improve efficiency, quality and scalability.
This role will take P&L accountability for Data Sciences and have line management responsibility for biostatistics, statistical programming, database programming, data management, pharmacokinetics and medical writing.
The role will drive AI adoption by partnering with engineering, analytics and clinical/scientific stakeholders to translate business process/strategy into actionable product roadmaps, drive adoption of AI and advanced analytics, and ensure compliant responsible AI practice.
Qualifications and experience required for competent performance:
- A strong background in Biometrics/Data Sciences with experience in one or more function.
- Proven experience leading teams, functions, or complex cross-functional delivery within Data Sciences
- Experience in CRO and/or pharmaceutical environments, with understanding of clinical trial data and delivery models
- Experience of operating in regulated scientific environments
- Experience applying AI, advanced analytics, or automation within Biometrics environments, OR a strong understanding of how these can be embedded into clinical and biometrics workflows
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical mentoring skills.
- Experience with GxP, validation or regulated software environments.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance across Data Sciences (Biometrics) functions
- Support development of the target operating model for Data Sciences
- Ensure alignment across: Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, Database Programming, Data Management, PK/Pharmacometrics and Medical Writing
- Contribute to talent development, capability building, and succession planning
- Act as a senior link between strategy and operational delivery
- Assess current state of Data Sciences and capability gaps.
- Define and deliver the AI-enabled transformation roadmap for Data Sciences, aligning with organisational and scientific goals and market needs.
- Effectively prioritise AI product development use cases based on business value, impact, effort and risk across statistics, PK, data management, medical writing and programming.
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of AI products within Data Sciences, from ideation and requirements gathering to development, launch, and ongoing optimisation.
- Partner with engineering, analytics, and Data Science teams to translate business strategy into actionable product features and solutions.
- Help build AI literacy and confidence across Data Sciences
- Ensure data governance, model compliance, and ethical use of AI are embedded into product development and deployment.
- Monitor product performance, user adoption, and the realisation of business impact, using data-driven insights to inform product decisions and roadmap.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and product value to stakeholders in clear, actionable terms.
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in Data Sciences, AI, data analytics, and product management, conducting research to explore new methodologies and applications to maximise forward-looking, value-led innovation.
