APSE Synergy Seeks a Director
APSE Synergy is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Director, to lead the delivery and growth of consultancy and interim management services to the Local Government Sector.
About the Role
As a relatively new start-up, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the company.
As a wholly owned company of APSE, APSE Synergy is committed to providing high-quality, ethical and values-driven consultancy that supports councils to meet the challenges of delivering modern public services. Working in partnership with local authorities across the UK, we provide specialist consultancy, interim management and strategic support that helps organisations improve performance, deliver change and achieve sustainable outcomes.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board, and to APSE’s Chief Executive the Director will have day-to-day responsibility for running the company, providing strategic and operational leadership for the company, overseeing business development, service delivery, legal and operational compliance and financial management whilst managing a small in-house team alongside managing field associates. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with local authorities, develop a high-performing network of consultants and associates, and ensure that every commission is delivered to the highest professional standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
