Director, Business Manager

MUFG, a globally respected financial institution, is seeking a Director, Business Manager to join its Compliance Division in London. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to work at the heart of a collaborative and supportive environment, where your expertise will directly influence the strategic direction and operational excellence of both Core Compliance and the Global Financial Crimes Office for EMEA. As a trusted partner to senior leadership, you will play an integral part in shaping business plans, driving resource optimisation, and fostering inter-departmental relationships across a diverse and international network.

What you'll do:

  • Act as a primary contact for resource planning and management, ensuring optimal allocation of personnel and budgetary resources across the Compliance Division.
  • Partner strategically with business heads to establish and develop functional strategies that align with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop robust business plans while tracking progress against key milestones, ensuring alignment with both medium-term and long-term staffing strategies.
  • Participate actively as an engaged member of the EMEA leadership team, contributing insights that drive operational effectiveness and foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Design and deliver target operating models by utilising available resources efficiently within established budgets.
  • Provide accurate management information on resource planning by partnering closely with Finance and HR teams to ensure data integrity.
  • Interface regularly with Finance for budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring performance against set targets; oversee invoicing processes in conjunction with Procurement as needed.
  • Create and execute communication strategies including town hall messaging and maintenance of the intranet site to ensure clear internal communications.
  • Manage all offsite events and social committee activities while establishing office workspace strategies and leading return-to-office initiatives.
  • Support the Head of Planning in meeting head office reporting requirements; oversee business continuity planning; proactively identify risks within the Business Management function; maintain strong stakeholder relationships throughout MUFG.

What you bring:

  • Experience in business management roles within financial institutions or similar regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget oversight and resource management.
  • Proven track record working within global matrix organisations.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with strategic planning abilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Experience managing large workloads under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • A university degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in compliance or financial crime prevention is advantageous but not mandatory.
